Just a few quick questions for you:

1. What was the first country to use the flintlock as its primary infantry weapon (and when).
2. What was the first major battle that was fought where both participants infantry were armed with flintlock muskets?
3. When did most of Europe use flintlock muskets as their primary infantry weapon?

Essentially, were there any celebrations or mementos of any kind that discussed the 2000th founding of Rome, as there were for the 1000th anniversary.

The women, especially, frequently leave dinner en masse by saying "shall we go through?" Does this just mean leave, or are they going through to someplace in particular?

I was looking on this sub when I saw this, " Knowledgeable people on this very sub will tell you in great detail how "the feudal system" was in actuality a huge variety of different ways of doing things, and that the way it is popularly understood really only applied in parts of France" and was wondering where exactly in Europe medieval feudalism was present.

I remember a snarky line in a modern novel set in Victorian England about families hiding away portraits of their grandmothers for embarrassment at their gauzy, low-cut Regency dresses. Do we know if this was a real phenomenon? What are the recorded thoughts looking back on this shift in fashion?

So, when GER and the USSR invaded Poland after Molotov-Ribbentrop, why did GER become the main target? why did they not also declare war on the USSR? I believe there may have been a non-agression treaty between FR and the USSR but,I'm not sure.

I've heard testaments from documentaries and survivors of the bomb claiming they were strafed by the USAAF.

When first contact was made and they found that the westerners making themselves at home in East Africa were from Italy, would they have known what/where that is? Would they be referred to as Italians by Ethiopia or some other term like Latins or Catholics or Romans? What did Ethiopia think Europe looked like then?

I see a lot of books that cover early modern Europe from about 1500 to 1800, but I would love to find a book that cover it from a world view with bits on China, Mughals, etc.

In biblical era middle east, would white people have been at all prevalent? Were african individuals present? I am having difficulty finding any scholarly sources as to the racial makeup of the region 2000 years ago. This question emerged from a discussion of whether it was actually possible the biblical Jesus could have been white in complexion.

Are the small swinging doors just a Hollywood invention?

Many sources cite that the population declined by 50% during this period. Although this was during the crisis of the 3rd century, I had always assumed that the city of Rome itself was relatively secure during this period?

During WWII, Britain in particular tried various tactics to get the US on their side; but what about WWI? The U.S at that time really didn't have much of a standing army and its only action on the world stage was fighting the Spanish. Did the allies of WWI even want the U.S to field an army? Was there any trepidation on their part as to whether the U.S could fight effectively?

I've bookmarked a few on Amazon, but I tend to inevitably find a review that discourages the purchase. What can you recommend?
