During the Industrial Revolution, was there a lot of talk in newspapers about it being the end of employment?

Just read this article in the Guardian about AI + robotics taking away the vast majority of jobs. Were there similar thoughts during the Industrial Revolution?

Atemporality and history

This video by NerdWriter1 discusses our interaction with history and why it might be changing. I want to know what everyone here thinks.

Personally, it is an enchanting thought process since the method of information delivery has changed. This sub-reddit certainly is proof of it. Is history changing? Are we outside of Post-Modern history telling? (The usual, is history bunk?)

What do you think?

What do they mean when they say "let's go through" on Downton Abbey?

The women, especially, frequently leave dinner en masse by saying "shall we go through?" Does this just mean leave, or are they going through to someplace in particular?

What events and factors caused the Gallipoli landings to be such failures? What did mililtary strategists and commanders learn from these from these mistakes that had been made?

I would like if you could tell how the landing and attack was supposed to go and then what events/factors caused the landings to not go as planned(if they were critical flaws in the original plan please include those).

I also remember reading that the landings at Gallipoli caused a complete overhaul of amphibious landings and how they were fought. What specific events/factors in Gallipoli did military's learn the most from and what specific reforms did they implement to avoid repeating these mishaps?

Sorry if the question is a bit vague and is lengthy, it's my first time posting here and I've recently been in a WW1 mood.

Where in Europe was feudalism that we learn about in school present?

I apologize for the confusing title. I was looking on this sub when I saw this, " Knowledgeable people on this very sub will tell you in great detail how "the feudal system" was in actuality a huge variety of different ways of doing things, and that the way it is popularly understood really only applied in parts of France" and was wondering where exactly in Europe medieval feudalism was present.

Victorian thoughts on Regency dress

I remember a snarky line in a modern novel set in Victorian England about families hiding away portraits of their grandmothers for embarrassment at their gauzy, low-cut Regency dresses. Do we know if this was a real phenomenon? What are the recorded thoughts looking back on this shift in fashion?

Are there any survey books that cover the early modern era from a global perspective?

I see a lot of books that cover early modern Europe from about 1500 to 1800, but I would love to find a book that cover it from a world view with bits on China, Mughals, etc.

Did the allied powers in WWI actively try to get the U.S involved in the conflict, or was it more of a vague hope that they would join up?

During WWII, Britain in particular tried various tactics to get the US on their side; but what about WWI? The U.S at that time really didn't have much of a standing army and its only action on the world stage was fighting the Spanish. Did the allies of WWI even want the U.S to field an army? Was there any trepidation on their part as to whether the U.S could fight effectively?
