I was just curious how did races from across the world all stumble upon the idea to use spears, swords, bows independently.

I tried asking this on /r/suggestmeabook but hadn't much luck.

I borrowed Martins Gilbert's First World War from my father's library but I don't like his writing. I find it boring and too centered on the British perspective.

So I did some research and The Sleepwalkers: How Europe Went to War in 1914 seems like a good place to start. But I also want to get a book that covers the whole of the conflict to get the big picture. From what I could gather, these are some of the most praised (and easily available):

I am writing a novel and want the maximum amount of accuracy as possible. There is a scene in which a group of archers lay an ambush, but it starts raining heavily. I want to know to what degree this decreases the lethality of the attack.

If anyone has any general information on ancient archery and how well or poorly ancient archers would fare when firing SHOOTING in heavy rain, that would be greatly appreciated.

Don't some chapters in Quran like the one which describes Muhammad's 'journey to the heavens' from Jerusalem seem to be written after his death?

The Roman Empire was the leading force of technology and culture in the Ancient world. Still, relying on the general narrative, we also get the idea that they were quite corrupt as well. The Germans were savage and primitive, for the most part, but are perceived as less corrupt. Is it possible that there were Roman citizens or high-ranking officials who saw through the flashy facade of the Empire and despised it for its corruption, going as far as secretly supporting the Germans?
