Hi, I am writing an essay regarding the 'justification/not justification' of the nuclear bomb and am currently talking about war crimes. I was wondering whether there was any historical reason as to why the Chinese were treated so poorly by the Japanese occupation forces? Very often when reading up on a historical act which seems noble at first, it turns out the reality was a bit more complicated and the motives were not always idealistic, but rather practical in nature. Can a historian burst my bubble and enlighten me that freeing the slaves in the British empire was an act of self-interest?

In the movie, the representatives themselves are sitting there fighting with each other. Not their aides or interns, but them. Now I never see video of senators or representatives arguing back and forth. Supposedly it is all done on committees during the work day.

How did this evolve over time? Why did it evolve like this?

Were they concerned?

It's common knowledge that the earliest known civilizations were in a region called the Fertile Crescent (which is now the eastern half of the Middle East) about 6000 years ago. But knowing that humanity has migrated around the world long before then and that there are certainly more lush regions of land, were there any other rising civilizations from that time period in other parts of the world? Like China, Western Europe or Southeast Asia, for instance?

It seems like it was such a cruel and yet fundamental part of Aztec culture. I wonder if anyone is known to have spoken out against it before the Spanish arrived.
