Would Władysław Jagiełło have heard about the battle of Agincourt? And vice versa, would Henry IV have heard about the battle of Grunwald*? Would the news of the Siege of Baghdad in 1258 (not really Europe, I know) have reached Castile and Italy?

• If I remember correctly, the knight from Chaucer's Canterbury Tales fought with the Teutonic Knights around that period, so that would somewhat suggest that the answer to my question is 'yes.' However, this text was written much later and what I'm asking iabout is how the news spread. When would one end of Europe hear about a major battle fought on the other end of Europe.

Besides the British, Canadians, Indians, Free French, etc., who fought in Italy, Africa, the Pacific, and on the Western Front with the US, there were other, smaller, contingents from countries such as Brazil and Mexico. How can I find out about their experiences? Any books out there anyone can recommend?
