Now I know the people that who live in that part of Eastern France today are French and Citizens of that country but judging from the surnames of the people there and the local architecture, would they be considered ethnic Germans?
Also my other question is whether Standard German is spoken there today considering the region borders Germany.

The moon landing was closer to Cleopatra than the pyramids being built. Even to us now the pyramids are incredible and some of it is still a mystery, but what about the people of Egypt a thousand or more years after its construction, what did they and perhaps even outsiders know about them?

I've been taking a history of Sport class and my teacher last night said that "people didn't emphasis recreation, sport or physicality during the Dark Ages." I'm very skeptical of this statement, as I'm aware that the Dark Ages is an old misleading term. That being said, what evidence do we have for sports, games, or recreational activities during this peroid?
Edit: spelling; generally awful English grammar

In school, I've learned about the American, European and even Asian wars, but I almost never hear about South America doing anything. Have they been a part of any major wars? If so which sides? And were there any wars between one another? Any information would be greatly appreciated!!

Would the people of the Middle East (and the world) be better off if the empire was still around today?

Could this have lead to a swayed trial during Nuremberg, or the Doctor's trials? Why would the U.S. government do such a thing.

I refer specifically to the fact that a large part of the city was built south of a river and only a smell part to the north. It seems a bit strange to me.

A few years ago, I played a lot of Medieval 2: Total War on the PC. I always enjoyed the speeches given by generals prior to battle. Can someone tell me little bit about the character of actual medieval battle speeches?
I know that there were strict rubrics for certain writing and speaking situations in some milieus of the period, so I suspect there may be a primer from the period that covers such things. Google didn't turn anything up, and I don't have access to an academic library. I'm interested in what passed for "boiler plate" in these situations, particularly in smaller scale battles, and especially in the face of certain defeat.
Many thanks!

The 14th Amendment gives citizenship to "all persons born or naturalized in the United States." What did one have to do earlier to attain citizenship? Was it such that any white person born in the USA became a citizen? Did everyone have to undergo naturalization? I'm curious.
Thanks.

I'm especially interested in their role in Europe after watching this speech by Thomas Sankara. It seems obvious that France and the United Kingdom would use African soldiers, but was their impact as big as Sankara claims?

Could you name civilizations or political systems in world's history, that could fit Marx's world view of how society should be formed?

I have been wondering this for quite a while, and I can't seem to find an answer myself. It seems to me that the fall of the Western Roman Empire should have had a positive effect on the Eastern Roman Empire.
