I've done a bit of research on this topic and from what I've gathered Caesar's murderers were mostly in it for personal gain even though no one really gained anything. If anything the whole plan seemed a bit naive in that they all kind of expected the republic to be magically restored and had no plan for after Caesar's death. In addition, was the end of Pompey's marriage the tipping point for open hostilities?

As an American we always here about the tenaciousness of the Japanese, the machine-like precision of the Germans, or even the remorselessness of the Red Army. What we hear about is how these armies viewed or now view the US or even UK troops. We are always told about the plucky never say die attitude, but it would be interesting to hear from the other side for a change.
