I'm looking for a book about similarities in Greek mythology and Christianity. For instance Pandora's story seems very close to Eve's, and its aftermath is also very similar. Are there any books that delve into these similarities and essentially list various connections?

I've also heard of similarities in Jesus and Horus' stories if anyone has suggestions for broader connections between Christianity and older mythologies and beliefs.

Especially in places like South America and Russia.

How was it determined who was to become a member of the Roman Senate under the times of the Republic? I think much of the membership was composed of people who had held some sort of elected magistrate position, but were there also members who never held any such position? Were the positions in any way hereditary? The way the Senate was selected also changed throughout the times as well.

I am Somali, and I guess I never thought about it, but nearly the entire every day somali language is made up of loan words from Arabic. Somali names are Arabic names, like Mohamed or Yusuf.

What happened to the language that was spoken in Somali pre 600 AD when the Arabs arrived? Is there any record of that language still in existence?

How would say, a Polish Jew, or an Iranian Muslim, or even another christian group like Copts be treated and viewed by the Irish Catholics and the Anglo/Scots Protestants, since they would have no ethnic or religious connection to either side.

I was raised in the area where Long practiced, and there was a museum devoted to him and his great discovery of using ether an an anesthetic. It is pitched as if to say "no one used anesthesia before him, and he invented it all himself".

However, there are accounts of surgeons far before the 19th century using anesthesia for operations.

So is there anything actually novel or historically significant about Crawford Long? Or was this just a local museum trying to hype up interest in a small rural town?

I was listening to "Cheap Trick at Budokan", and how fucking nuts the Japanese fans are going in the background. Is there an explanation for the so called "Big in Japan" phenomenon? Namely the huge popularity of certain American bands - often ones which hadn't necessarily enjoyed that level of success in the US yet - which seems to have really started in the '70s or so?

I’m not a holocaust denier but I’ve heard from a few people who ask why this is and I don’t have an answer.

The records of fighting at the time always speak of heroes and personal feats, but I'm not sure of having heard about a legionary with flashbacks of war or Greek hoplites with regrets of their acts during the war times.

I would like to Know if there is some kind of record that could imply PTSD at the time, and if there are records, how was the subject perceived in those societies?

I have a document that a soldier brought back from Europe during the 2nd World War. I would like to have it in a picture frame, however, it will be stored in my safe so I am not too worried about UV protection.

The document's Height/Length is 5.3in/8.3in.

I looked around Amazon and other websites like GayLord but they all make it super confusion. I don't know how to properly frame it.

I would ideally just like to pop it in a non-acidic frame and that's it. I don't know how to assemble a frame and what-not like a professional archivist. Is there an easy already-made frame I can just put my document in?

Did people start celebrating because they went another year without dying, or were they more recognizing the milestones that come with aging?

I read in an article that the actress Hedy Lamarr was responsible for inventing frequency hopping due to her being afraid that the Germans or Japanese could disrupt radio controlled weapons. And she then invented and patented the product. Frequency hopping now is used in Bluetooth and Wi-Fi. But I don’t see how an actress with no formal training in this field or any higher education.

So is this story somewhat true? Or is this completely fabricated and just a myth?
