I'm doing some research for a digital history project in my hometown of Pittsburgh, and it seems like there was a pretty healthy and fruitful relationship between our black and Jewish communities from the turn of the 20th century until the late sixties (MLK riots seem to have fractured the relationship between these groups in 1968). This has me wondering if the relationship between these marginalized groups ever fostered some sort of large-scale cooperation when it came to agitating for civil rights on a national scale.

Is there any evidence of significant Jewish involvement as partners or allies to black civil rights activists nationally? And either way, can any historians advise on some good sources to consult on the subject?

Through history many times I read "such and such raised and army of X thousand soldiers", but I don't understand what actually goes into that, even more because those armies would be raised in territories not completely controlled, for example Napoleon recruiting people all over Europe, or Caesar recruiting legions far from Rome.

Now, I understand that this was different across history, and I don't want to know how this was done just in one period of history, so maybe if you know about a certain period you could explain how it was done then, may the merciful mods allow it.

I ask because in Downton Abbey, when Matthew asks Dr. Ryder (some sort of OB/gym/repro doctor) if his wife has seen the doctor as well, Dr. Ryder says "I couldn't possibly comment on it". This was supposed to be taking place in the early 1920s--did ideas about health privacy exist back then, and would they have extended to husband and wife? Iirc, coverture had been curtailed but not completely done away with, would this have impacted women's healthcare at all?

I’m interested in learning about the Dungan Revolt (1862-77). It seems like it was pretty big conflict but it doesn’t get talked about much. So my questions are why did it happen, what was the goal of the rebels, why did some Muslim groups revolt and some stay loyal to the Qing, and who was Yaqub Beg and why did he get involved?

I had remembered seeing a documentary that explained that the lead up to WW1 was caused by the British Empire trying to keep control over the entirety of its empire. Unfortunately I can't remember specific details, but was curious as to if this was true and if someone could shed some light on the lead up to the First World War.

I've always been so interested in Hilter and the Nazi. It's incredible to me even though obviously evil and wrong how much they've been able to accomplish. I've been living in Berlin the last 8 weeks and this is taken my interest to another level, and i wanted to ask a few questions about some theories I've been thinking about the Nazi's and how they were so smart and created so much in such a short amount of time

My first questions are about drug usage, largely with Hilter and the scientists and engineers creating weapons of mass destruction and murdering thousands of people. After doing some research I saw that Nazi's gave a drug called D-IX to their soldiers, which was one part amphetamines, one part cocaine, and one part oxycodone. This got me thinking that maybe the scientists and Hitler himself had been using drugs to keep working around the clock and maximize their evil genius. So what I'm asking is whether their is research that supports this theory. Were the nazi's taking drugs to fuel their empire?

My second theory is about the evil energy that they were harnessing, and it sort of relates to my first question. Now whether or not they were using drugs they must have been fueled by evil spirits such as the devil himself or whatever dark entity looms on earth. So my theory is that with all the evil dark science, war, and murder going about the Nazi's tapped into the powers of the devil and used this to create all their weapons of mass destruction. That some how their plans were promoting by tapping into evil energy and this energy helped them to continue to thrive, until the end of WW2. I would love to hear what you guys think of this and any information you have on the subject would be much appreciated.

China assimilated countless neighbors as it expanded from the Henan province to the entire modern state. So why did Vietman and Korea escape this assimilation? They are geographically close to China, and both were at some time controlled by China, and have strong Chinese cultural influence. So why are they independent rather than say the Baiyue people?

I'm curious about how people of the Viking Age treated battle wounds. Do we have any detailed accounts? Did they know to clean a wound before stitching or binding it? What kind of materials would they have used?

More specificly, what were the conditions and relations like in American camps during and after WWII. Were there significant differences of treatment depending on where the camp was located?

I've heard a lot about Nazi's camps, Russian ones, but American ones are always remained the mystery to me. Not long time ago I've heard that they weren't much diffrent in terms of cruelty from Russian ones, so not to be uniformed, I'm asking every pleasant soul to help me get some new knowledge, and to help to spread more thruth to the world.

I was wondering how pre-modern people might come to be aware of what's underneath the Earth's crust -- at the very least, some historical Christians would know of volcanoes, given the existence (and activity) of European volcanoes such as Mt Etna. But it's one thing to know "fire erupts from that mountain" and another to extend it to "the same sort of fire is beneath the ground everywhere" -- though the burning spectacle of a volcanic eruption would quite likely be a connection to Hell on its own.
