I’m currently reading about the War and its effects on the US and was wondering what, if anything, it did for the US in the long term?

Essentially how did co-emperorships function? Was one emperor always nominally more influential over the other? General questions that really haven’t been answered on this sub, etc.

I came across this post on Tumblr explaining how baby clothes were originally gender neutral, but corporations specifically gendered them in order to maintain their profits in a society where families were having fewer children. The rationale is that parents wouldn't be able to hand down clothes from, say, a sister to her younger brother.
Is there any evidence that this happened? It feels like there are a few separate things at play: the transition to gendered clothing, the transition from homemade to store-bought clothing, the transition from local retailers to national retailers, etc. Do we know how this trend got started and how it spread?

I saw a recommendation for a historian named Alan Wilson when I was looking for more information about Britain after the departure of Rome, and I was intrigued by what he had to say. However, some of what he says is far different than what I see in other sources, and his reasoning is kind of conspiracy-ish. He believes that the Coelbren alphabet is legitimate, but I can't find anyone else backing that claim. Same with some of his other claims, like Brutus of Troy, or a comet being responsible for the 6th century AD global cooling period.
Trying to research the man, I can see he has different titles, and he seems well-respected, and I can't find anything deriding him.
I lack the knowledge to really dive down into his theories and fact check them, so I was wondering if anyone else knew about him and their thoughts.

Major scales are considered “happy” and minor scales “sad” in very simple terms. But this is an arbitrary association, as we see when we look at musical traditions from outside Europe. For example in Indian classical music, many ragas which correspond to minor scales are considered happy or festive (like raga pilu or bhimpalasi). Even within Western music, many mariachi songs are written in major scales even though their lyrical content is gloomy and depressing (like Cucurrucucu Paloma and Cielito Lindo).
The association of major/minor with happiness/sadness is so strong that most people in the West have internalized it. I can’t listen to music in a minor scale without feeling sad and music in a major scale sounds fun and festive.
Is there a psychological reason behind this, or is it arbitrary? If it’s arbitrary, what’s the reason we think of scales this way?

So...I'm unsure if this applies to this sub, but I'd like to ask anyway.
A Chinese friend of mine mentioned how the Chinese novel The Romance of Three Kingdoms was really popular in Japan, but he didn't know why or how.
With my limited knowledge of Japanese culture, it seems interesting that a Chinese novel is popular in that country, since I'm unaware of any other Chinese novels that are popular in Japan as well.
Was the culture of the Japanese different back then from what it is today in regards to Chinese works?

I'm talking about the Russian Liberation Army and other Russian collaborationists. I know that they joined the Germans because they hated communism, but didn't they know that Nazis considered Slavs to be an inferior race? And didn't they know about the Lebensraum theory, according to which all Eastern Europeans should have been sterminated or germanized?

I'm a Spanish resident and a big lover of Anarchist philosophy and history, although there are quite a few sources to read from, I can't find much on the actual origins of the movement in Spain apart from the Giuseppi Fanelli's tour during the First International, and this surprised me due to how prominent and important anarchism has been and is in Spain.

I read in a wiki article about clocks, and whenever the article mentioned a new development in clock technology, it would talk about how the new clock "erred by less than 5-10 seconds," etc.
How was there a universal standard for timekeeping before satellites? And how did we come up with a universal standard for "this is how long an hour is, and this is the exact time 2pm is" and so on.
Sorry if this is a confusingly worded question, I wasn't sure exactly how to articulate what I meant here.

I'm aware there is debate surrounding whether there were any Christians living in Pompeii at the time. Has the study of Pompeii created any new knowledge about the history of the early church?

I'm trying to mostly pinpoint modern to contemporary Chinese history, mostly 19th and 20th century China. I don't have too much time, which means something between 400 and 600 pages is most ideal, and I have no problem accepting new suggestions. What should I do?

Please Be Aware: We expect everyone to read the rules and guidelines of this thread. Mods will remove questions which we deem to be too involved for the theme in place here. We will remove answers which don't include a source. These removals will be without notice. Please follow the rules.
Some questions people have just don't require depth. This thread is a recurring feature intended to provide a space for those simple, straight forward questions that are otherwise unsuited for the format of the subreddit.
Here are the ground rules:
Top Level Posts should be questions in their own right.
Questions should be clear and specific in the information that they are asking for.
Questions which ask about broader concepts may be removed at the discretion of the Mod Team and redirected to post as a standalone question.
We realize that in some cases, users may pose questions that they don't realize are more complicated than they think. In these cases, we will suggest reposting as a stand-alone question.
Answers MUST be properly sourced to respectable literature. Unlike regular questions in the sub where sources are only required upon request, the lack of a source will result in removal of the answer.
Academic secondary sources are prefered. Tertiary sources are acceptable if they are of academic rigor (such as a book from the 'Oxford Companion' series, or a reference work from an academic press).
The only rule being relaxed here is with regard to depth, insofar as the anticipated questions are ones which do not require it. All other rules of the subreddit are in force.
