And if they did, were they welcome or was they still met with nazi-like anti Semitic views?

I recently read that being "work shy" could get you sent to concentration camp.
How common was this? Was there a concerted effort to take homeless people off the streets and send them to camps? What about the less-visible unemployed--were low-profile unemployed individuals who might be living with relatives or friends sent to camps too, or were they mostly targeting vagrants and bums?

All other supreme court cases i have seen are named (some party) v. (other party). Why is this one named differently?

Or is this a more current innovation? I understand that there were individual musicians that gained critical popular acclaim (Beethoven, Mozart, Tchaikovsky, .), but what about groups of musicians? Is the modern concept of a "band" a newer concept? I can't seem to recall any, except maybe choirs and such. Just curious!

While Caesar was campaigning in Britain, he was approached by some of Cassivellaunus' allies who wished to defect and form an alliance with Caesar. If I'm not mistaken (at this time in Rome's history) Britain was regarded by the Romans as a mysterious, unknown land, the "edge of the world" so to speak, beyond which they had no idea what existed other than ocean. How would they have communicated? Would Caesar's Gallic horsemen have been able to talk to them i.e would there have been similarities in their tribal languages the way there are similarities between Spanish and Portuguese? Does Caesar even address this in his commentaries?

I am having trouble finding a good distinguishing characteristic between Huitzilopochtli, Tezcatlipoca, and Tonatiuh. Both Huitzilopochtli and Tonatiuh are considered the Sun god. Tezcatlipoca is considered the night god, or god of the night sky. But some texts say that the Toxcatl festival was dedicated to Huitzilopochtli, and others say it was to dedicated to Tezcatlipoca. And if Templo Mayor was dedicated to Huitzilopochtli and the rain god Tlaloc, how important was Tezcatlipoca to the Aztecs? Maybe someone can clear this up for me! As I am finding the Aztec gods very confusing. Thanks.

Title says it all pretty much. I am having an extremely difficult time finding a good book about this period of US History other than Foner's Reconstruction: America's Unfinished Revolution, and I'm looking for recommendations from the pros.
THANK YOU!

The question I've settled on for now is "The Iranian hostage crisis- The origins of Islam as a synecdoche for the Middle East." Wording of this question has been one of my biggest hurdles but i feel quite confident in the broader meaning and the areas this phrasing will allow me to explore.
If anyone's interested i'll post my current draft as I am quite proud of my chosen topic and it's associated areas.

So I found a pretty great selection of books in the FAQ, but I couldn't find one for colonial history's founding up until the American Revolution. Found many after that period.
Any recommendations?

If so, how would this have happened? Did the US intend to invade Russia?

Dear /r/AskHistorians
A few months back I came to you with the plan to recreate an old, fairly inaccurate map of Christian Europe and the Crusades. After working on it on and off, I have reached the point where I am confident to share with you my end result in order to perfect it even more. You can find it here.
When looking at the map, take note that it represents the political situations of Europe and the Middle East during/After the First Crusade.
I would like to receive feedback and suggestions. I think I had some bad research done on my part when naming certain places (like the Lands of the Rus', Almohads or Almoravids, etc ..) so I'm keen on hearing from the experts!
Also take note that the top right and bottom left are empty because there will be 2 mini-maps to be added.
Thank you all for giving it a glance and some time!

Street food was, as I understand, a staple of the life of the Roman poor due to their lack of living spaces with ovens or other means of cooking. How were these foods served without readily manufactured and easily disposed of materials that we take for granted nowadays?

I know that being a Roman citizen got you all sorts of rights and privileges way back in the day, but how did they make sure that a person's claim to citizenship was legitimate? What was stopping a non-citizen who was accused of a crime from claiming he was a citizen in order to get the protections that citizenship afforded people?
