Is there any credibility to the stories at all about Jewish slavery at the hands of the Egyptians? If so, how did they get there, and what was the real cause of them being freed? From what I understand there's not really any substantial evidence that point to the fact of them wandering in the desert afterward but I'm curious as to why the Jews ended up in Egypt.

I just read on (german) wikipedia that Max Schmeling, german boxer and soldier in WW2, was talking to an american newspaper after a injury in a hospital in the german occupied Athens. So i was wondering if it was possible in WW2 for example a american journalist to travel to german occupied territories and go back again ? Was it even possible for civilians?

Lots of stories go around Masonic lodges about Nazi oppression, but what historical evidence do we have to learn from?

I've recently come across some fictional references to "church trials" of men for striking their wives. Basically the wife would go before the church and complain to the church leaders that her husband had struck her. The church would then deliberate on the circumstances and decide whether the husband was guilty of injustice, and what to do about it. I was surprised, because I'd always assumed that women throughout history had little recourse when such things happened. I'm trying to find out whether such trials often took place, whether the way of dealing with such domestic issues varied by denomination or geographical region, or how the practices changed over time. Any sources would be greatly appreciated.

I was reading his wikipedia article and it mentioned something to do with how Axum was their main rival/enemy and how he asked the persian monarch to do the same with christians in their realms. However the page does also mention how he was into his judaisim and even the arabic term nuwas means sidelocks because he grew out his hair to the side. This may seem a bit long but to put it simply what was his motives, political or religious?

There are some parts of the Bible like Psalms, which are mostly songs or poems. They don't rhyme in the currently translated English obviously, but I'm curious if the original, untranslated songs or poems had rhyming in them.

I will have a bachelors and masters in history and bachelors in chemistry upon graduation. I'm going to become a secondary teacher, but am interested in being a pop history writer and devoting my life to learning in general.
I came across the term independent scholar today and I'm intrigued--what is it and how does one become one?

It was the biggest atrocities committed during WW2, but I don't know how did he end up hating just the Jews?
Also, how was he a pure German if he wasn't even born in Germany.

Podcasts are interesting, but I want to start listening to great speeches so that I can hopefully learn a thing or two about giving a powerful address.
Preferably ones that I can listen to because I like to listen while I'm at the gym, but obviously many great speeches may not have been recorded.

It's often depicted that it was relatively easy to 'track' (Blow off the tracks of) a tank in WW2 and happened more often than I'd have thought, how realistic is this?

I am writing a research paper on the Rape of Nanking for my high school English class and need to have a primary sources. I cant use an article that is written by a journalist doing an interview or things like that. It has to be Written by someone who was there. All I can find though is articles written by journalists though. Does anyone have some links to where I can find a primary source?

I recently purchased (won! at auction) a pair of pages of notes made by a historical figure that I'd like to display. I have no idea of the provenance of the staple, or whether it's original, but obviously it makes display a lot tougher (I've put similar individual documents in gallery frames - two planes of glass that allow both sides to be viewed). The pages are about 5"x8".
Clipping the staple off would I suppose be damaging the artifact (it's from the 60's), but would allow display in a way that would preserve it better than keeping it in an envelope, as well as providing more enjoyment by allowing display.
I'd appreciate any guidance on best-practices on that. Thanks!
