Correct me if I'm wrong, but Dr. King's legacy seems to have been reduced to the single line "I have a dream that my four little children will one day live in a nation where they will not be judged by the color of their skin, but by the content of their character." How did this happen?

I'm curious to learn more about vikings exploring Africa. I know they explored North Africa, are there any credible sources that provide more information and is there any evidence that they might have visited South Africa?

Hello historians, today i have a question about one historian :)

I'm thinking of buying a book about japanese history. This wouldn't be the first japanese history book I buy, so I want to be sure it's valuable. The book is about the Takeda Clan during the Sengoku Jidai and it's written by Terje Solum. I just want to know if any of you know him and if you know if he writes well and if he is a good historian. I would appreciate any information you have, thanks.

The American Revolution, from what I've always read, seemed to be very successful with transitioning the nation into independence. I became curious today though, and wondered if there were any prominent figures who later in life regretted the Revolution and independence.

I've been reading The Tailor King by Anthony Arthur, and in it he says that Jan Matthias appointed Anna Kolthave, a former concubine to a Catholic priest, as one of the people who collected material possessions and goods from the commonfolk. That got me thinking, how many Catholic priests clergymen had concubines?

I searched the subreddit and looked at the wiki, so hopefully this hasn't been answered before. I was watching "Halt and Catch Fire," and thought about how far we've come in such a short period of time. I wondered if something similar has ever happened in the past, or if computers have made a huge difference in the speed of technological progression.

Did it only have to do with the fact that 13 colonies sent delegates to sign the Declaration of independence, or did the schism begin earlier.

I am a part of an Air Force squadron and I was just assigned as the historian and was wondering if anyone had any direction on how to logically maintain and organize this information.

Edit: I am starting from scratch and have not been given any real direction. I was told to keep track of the big events and what our unit accomplishes. This is a fairly new unit started in 2013

As in did they bring in existing tattoo artists or train people there to do it?

Sidenote: did POW camps on the allied side also use tattoos for identification?

I'm looking for sources on the expansion of college and university campuses in the United States following WWII and the introduction of the GI Bill. I'm particularly interested in the levels of new construction that, logically, must have occurred on these campuses.

I've tried doing a search on Google Scholar, but I don't think I'm using the right search team combinations. If anyone could point me in the right direction, I would very much appreciate it.
