So Kronos/Cronus has been portrayed in popular culture (Percy Jackson, Age of Mythology, Wrath of the Titans) as a giant monster made of rock and molten lava and fire.

Is there any ancient Greek text/oral tradition that supports this portrayal? I always imagined him as a simple old man with dark dark features, more like how we portray Hades. How is Kronos usually portrayed in Ancient Greek mythology?

For example, people in the early and mid-20th century speculated frequently about what "life would be like" in 2000. Obviously nobody got it exactly right, but they correctly understood that many of the important technologies of the future would be different from those of their present.

When did this first start happening? Were there scholars in ancient or medieval times who understood that the wheel, metal working, etc. were relatively new and thought that future societies would be even more "advanced" than they were?

It seems that the medical field of the time mostly revolved around cauterizing, amputating and rudamentary and unsanitary stitching, with no antibiotics or anaesthetics. How did these "heroes" come to survive so many battles and duels without dying from bleeding out, shock or infection?

Surely the odds of someone surviving so many battles would be too slim to be blind chance to come away from unscathed and without wounds that could be life threatening?

Was it really blind luck, skill or pure writer's embellishment? Or were these warriors really THAT good?

Was it a conscious sacrifice that was taken into account?

Is it valid? What are alternative ideas on the subject? Are there any documents from that time period that refute his ideas? Any info would be appreciated, I'm just curious about the subject, thanks!

The elephants that people train and work with are the Asian kind, not the African kind. So did that type of elephant once live in the middle east or north Africa? Or were they imported?

Additional/follow up questions: Did middle eastern empires, such as the Persians, breed working elephants? Did any Medieval or Renaissance European armies import elephants for their armies?

I don't know if this is more a philosophical question or a meta question. I had some stimuli some months ago (i.e: crashcourse: bighistory) that let me ponder if we can consider every human action history. Yes, i mean also this post in some minutes.
