Did those huge empires that were +2000 years ago govern much at all of their claimed land?

There have been many big empires and many of those seem way too big for governing considering what kind of knowledge and technology humans had back then.

So did people who lived in those empires even know who was ruling their land? I mean had those empires just once went there with their army and said that this is our land and never even went back there? or did they really govern those areas?

I'm sorry about my awful English but I hope that my question makes some sense.

How did Christianity become so commonplace and popular among black slaves in the United States?

I've always been interested in the use of religion in the Civil Rights movement as a way to unite people, but how did it come to pass that so many black slaves became Christian in the first place? Was it forced upon them by their owners? Was there a targetted effort of churches to convert? What happened with the traditional faith of the African people?

Hitlers Hate towards Slavs?

Can someone explain to me to as why Hitler had hatred towards Slavs. His ideology to the Aryan race to be supreme directly clashes with Slavs. As the Aryan race is diverted from Proto-Indo-Europeans language speakers. Also doesn't the middle east and Asia Minor fall under "Aryan" terminology

Is there any actual reason for his hatred towards Slavs other than the fact than forcible acquisition of Lebensraum from the East.

Also doesn't the middle east and Asian Minnor fall under "Aryan" terminology

Did the spread of early Christianity into Greece and Rome piggyback on the popularity of foreign "mystery" cults, like that of Osiris and Mithra?

I was just reading about these mystery religions on wikipedia, and apparently they were popular among Greeks and Romans in the early centuries CE. Wiki cites reasons for their popularity such as systematic doctrine, mystical experience, and a sense of community.

From a naive perspective (mine) Christianity seems to satisfy these same criteria. It's also foreign, like the cults of Osiris and Mithra. The existence of early Christian Gnostic sects seems to corroborate the connection to me.

In the history of the internet's development, what were the demographics of the most influential/inventive groups?

I'm just wondering about the history of the internet. Were there any women involved in any significant way in the internet's development? How about groups of women developers or programmers? Or, people/groups of colour that played a significant role?

From my understanding, much of the internet's history seems to concern white male programmers working in America or the UK at the time - were there any other significant parties in the internet's development?

How did a castle in Europe control an area

I always read that castles were used to control (or dominate/subjugate etc) areas but I don't know what that means really. I guess because a castle meant there were fighting men nearby who could come and hurt you? I'm sure it must be more complicated though, would love any help.

Thank you

What was the actual impact of Machiavelli's "The Prince"? Why is it considered so important?

Hi, sorry if this has been asked before. I did a search and didn't really find this exact question.

In school, we learned to associate Machiavelli with two phrases: "The end justifies the means," and "It is better to be feared than loved, if you cannot be both." We learned to regurgitate these two phrases on our tests, but we never learned anything about what the actual implications of the text were.

Why is it considered such an important document? What were the actual effects it had on European politics?

If the Puritans believed in predestination, why did they spend their whole lives being "good"?

I’m having a bit of trouble comprehending the fact that, in the Puritans’ belief, as soon as they entered the world, it was already decided whether they would go to Heaven or Hell – but they still spent their lives being "good" and trying to please God. Why would they do this? I was trying to establish a connection between the Puritans settling in America and what is today known as the American Dream – but this question is kind of in my way.
