I'm doing a project for my history class where I have to investigate the importance of foreign intervention in the First Gulf War. I have plenty of information regarding the coalition intervention during the First Gulf War but I'm having trouble finding information and sources documenting any sort of Kuwaiti resistance. I need to somehow show that the Kuwaitis were not solely dependent on the Coalition. Anyone an expert on this or know some good sources?

I know this is pretty vague, but I'm wondering how many casualties of war can be accounted for on U.S. soil after the end of the Civil War. I don't want to put too many constraints or limit the definition of this in fear of getting no answer, but I guess I'm thinking:

1. Civilian or Armed forces

2. Caused by foreign armed forces

3. In the 48-50 states, not territories or occupied areas

4. After the end of the Civil War up until now (or up to 1994, according to rules if need-be - though I'd rather extend it if at all possible)

I'm also not sure if I should include events like Pearl Harbor (technically not apart of the United States at the time) or September 11 (casualties, but not sure if this would be considered during war). So, I'll leave it up to those that answer whether or not to include Pearl Harbor, September 11 or other similar events.

I'm not looking for specific dates or anything. Just a number with a few details here and there.

So one figure that pops up a lot in old silent films and cartoons is the character who is so broke, he's wearing a barrel on suspenders instead of a pair of pants. Putting the ridiculousness aside for a moment, a watertight barrel seems like a very skill-intensive object to make. Given that a lot of people would have sewn their own clothes at a time when barrels were still in common use, was a pair of pants really worth more than a barrel?

Also, if anyone wants to go above and beyond, when did the whole 'barrel-and-suspenders' cliche begin?
