I know that after Jesus was born the Three Wise Men gave his family Gold, Frankincense, and Myrrh all while saying that he was the prophesied messiah for the Jewish people. Jesus's father, Joseph, was also a descendant of King David while Jesus's step father was related to King Solomon.

With that said how did Jesus still grow up poor? It just doesn't make since to me, surely the Gold, Frankincense, and Myrrh alone were enough to make his family a little wealthy.

Since the fall of the Roman empire, what purpose has the colosseum served that kept it standing all these centuries?

To think of a major arena or even an icon like the empire state building standing for centuries without being mowed down and replaced with something new seems unlikely... what made the colosseum so special? Was it really such a proud icon 5 centuries after the fall of the roman empire that it was held intact?

My brother is a Seventh Grade History Teacher and I am trying to surprise him with a few of posters to decorate his class. My main plan is to feature historically accurate warriors of each culture in the forfront, with maps of the controlled territory and some facts in the back ground. Something to get the kids interested!

My brother covers:

• Songhai Empire
• Mali Empire
• Imperial China
• Feudal Japan
• Aztec Empire
• Inca Empire
• Spanish Conquests

Now for my question:

Could you point me the direction of a description or illustration of what the Songhai or Malian Warriors/ Soldiers wore into battle?

So far I haven't found anything as definitive as the information on, say that of the Eagle Warrior or the Sengoku Samurai.

Had they seen black people before? Where they sympathic towards them? Did they care at all?

It's in Christianity, in greek mythology, in some Asain religions, even in one Indian religion I remember there being just an ocean and the land was simply a giant turtle that rose up so people and creatures could live on it's back. I've heard it's in countless others. I've also heard they found a boat that could be described as an arc up in the mountains, although that was almost definitely a hoax. So here's what I'm wondering.

1. Is there any event, in history or geologically, that could have been perceived as a world-wide flood by the people living in the area?
2. Is there any evidence at all that the world was ever submerged? Or the majority of it?
3. If neither is the case, how could so many religions specifically share the tale of the world-wide flood?
4. Could it be that the story has been around for so long, it split off from an original tale into several different stories/religions as people separated?
5. If that were the case, it would have to be traced back countless centuries to an origin point before mankind was so spread out but while we were still able to communicate, what would a likely origin point be?

Both of the countries share a similar heritage. But america seems to be taken to the Coffee drinking while England tea seems to be dominant brew.

Although it was very recent, it's rare for the conflict to be spoken about. Back story and result please.
