I have a need to see the uniforms among the various regiments/nations. Any reference, print or online, would be very much appreciated.

Forgive me for counting on your familiarity with the text. I read The Painted Bird about seven years ago and was horrified by the constant onslaught of unbelievable events in the novel. Kosinski claimed it was autobiographical. If you are familiar with the text, which included events such as mounted cavalry coming through villages and raping women, or pushing a child into a vat of liquid manure, then how much of that really happened?
Thank you

Since all foreign participants in the Civil War were volunteers, did the Fascist Italian and German governments prosecute their citizens who volunteered on the side of the anti-Fascist Republicans?

Good afternoon, /r/AskHistorians!
As I said in the title, I'm a freshman history major who has had a lifelong passion for cartography, especially mapping historical events, nations, regions, you name it! I was drawing basic street maps of my neighborhood as early as preschool. Since then, I've gradually honed my skills in drawing maps, progressing from childish crayon and pencil drawings, to utilizing wikipedia templates in middle school, creating rudimentary historical maps in GIMP in early high school, and nowadays, intricate, detailed, and (in my opinion) visually aestetic maps in Adobe Photoshop and Illustrator.
I've also had a lifelong passion and obsession for learning, analyzing, and reading about historical events, trends, figures, etc. My main area of interest is European History in the early modern era (~1390 - 1700), with an additional emphasis on the development of political institutions (on top of a general interest on all aspects of that period).
So, with that (possibly excessive) pile of personal background out of the way, here's my question for you wonderful contributors:
What career paths or general job oppertunities are out there that would allow me to persue both my passion/obsession with history and my hobby/interest in map-making?
As an added note, George Mason University (my current university) is offering a concentration in digital history - basically, the presentation of history in modern, digital mediums (websites, interactive displays, etc), which would line up nicely with my interest in digital cartography. This is a concentration that I am actively perusing.
I know this is a very specific question, but any advise you all might have would really go a long way!

I heard a little about it in school, but otherwise has no clue. They were treated similarly to the Jews, apparently.

I'm currently watching Rome (the tv-series) and have been reading along on Wikipedia in the meantime about some of these historical figures, but I don't understand why the names of many of them are different in English than what they've (according to wiki) been in Latin/Greek?

My professor gave us this prompt and I'm looking for some solid sources that will help me out with this paper. Thanks in advance.
In Neighbors, Jan Gross presents a range of individuals whose actions contributed to the murder of Jedwabne’s Jews by Poles, individually and collectively. Some perpetrators were men and some were women. How did women’s participation differ from that of men (did they play the role of accomplice for example rather than of direct perpetrator; did they participate in fewer numbers)? Keeping in mind whether motivations varied by gender (and whether women were more likely to be accessories to murder than the murderers themselves), Identify the three or four motivations that explain the murder of Jews by their neighbors in Jedwabne.

I'm referring to equine activities like polo, racing and hunter/jumper, fly-fishing and wing shooting for examples of upper crust activities, and pursuits like bowling, bait angling, etc as examples of lower crust activities.
Basically - when did entertainment for the masses diverge into high and low cultures?

As above in the title, did any of the Native American tribes make any attempt to explore beyond their territory or did they strictly stay within it? For example, did the Iroquois make any effort to go down into South America or to the west?
Edit: Before the Europeans arrived in North America

I've read that most Europeans (thanks to having plagues) were immune to many diseases they brought over to the new world. If they couldn't, or didn't, catch the disease how did they know the disease was in the blanket? What proof did they have that anything was in the blanket? Did they just take an article off of a victim they had on the ship; which just happened to be a blanket?

Meghan Markle just got engaged to Prince Harry. With all of the royal wedding talk, I wondered if a president ever had a child get married while in office. If yes, was the wedding ornate like royal weddings?

I have always been interested in military history and so I have enthusiastically read the campaigns of Hannibal, Caesar, Alexander, Napoleon, Grant, Subotai, Ieyasu, the Crusades, suleiman the magnificent, admiral yi, Nelson, Gustavus, etc. However, I have yet to dive into ancient Chinese military campaigns and battles. I am especially interested in the warring states period of China, aka ancient Chinese military history. Please do not suggest the three kingdoms Era. I have read those books to death.
Can any Chinese historian experts please guide me in which books are best suited for my case? Thank you very much!

Much is given to the fact that the attack started late, yet, if they were so dominant and the plan exceeded expatations in terms of enemy captured, territory seized, was there something military historians have pointed to as a major error?
