I have read many posts on this subredit about the holocaust, more specifically ones about holocaust denial. What I do not understand is if there is overwhelming evidence proving the holocaust happened, then why not confront these deniers and prove the holocaust happened, rather than deleting their posts and banning them? I have never seen a denier delete messages or not answer questions when questioned. Usually the person with the truth doesn't fear questioning, so why don't people confront these deniers?

Ive had a bad half rotten tooth before,for a few years actually,and it was a terrible painful experience until i went to the dentist.The pain was so unbearable and when i didnt have the means at the time to get it pulled, ive very much considered pulling it or knocking it out myself.once i got it taken out by a professional, i realised how much of a bad idea that would of been as it was quite the jarring experience,even with proper anaesthesia and tools and it seemed difficult for the dentist to remove. How did ancient people deal with this traumatic experience or did they just deal with it and die of infection?

I was just wondering if Runciman's multi-volume work is still considered the definitive history of the Crusades? I read the first volume a few years back and I remember being impressed with the detail but disappointed with the lack of analysis.

Are there any newer books which investigate the Crusades in great depth? The only other book I know is the one by Jonathan Riley Smith.

Some sources say there was some sort of law against kingdoms, except for the Kingdom of Bohemia, in the Holy Roman Empire.

Does any expert on the Holy Roman Empire know if that is correct.

I was just wondering what gaps we have in recorded history, or possibly periods and regions in which there are an extremely limited number of resources to look at.

For example, unless you know Hebrew or look it up, you don't know that "Michael" means "Who is like God?" Whereas names like "Lily" or "Hunter" do have obvious English meanings.

Did the Soviet Union at anytime consider annexing any of its satellite states into the USSR? I read that Todor Zhivkov, the leader of Communist Bulgaria, once called the nation the 16th republic of the USSR and made requests for Bulgaria to become part of it, and was wondering if there was any movement by these republics to become part of the Soviet Union. Additionally were there any people in the USSR advocating expansion, especially considering some places like Poland had been part of Russia prior to the Communist Revolution?

I wanted to know what exactly changed so much in warfare from 1870's to 1914. In WW1 we see automatic weapons, tanks, and planes but just a few decades ago armies were using rifles and cannons that weren't so different from past centuries. Was WW1 the first time these new weapons were used?

My wife and I were having a discussion in which the topic of how naturally we both accept the concept of the 8-hour workday/shift work in general came up. I'm curious to know how this understanding has changed through time.

For specifics: How much difficulty would a peasant/farmer or a skilled worker in the 14th century have understanding our modern norm of discretely scheduled labor periods 5 days/week 8 hours/day with scheduled breaks? If there is a time period that you think would stand out, I'd love to know about it.

What was the largest possible army the United States could have raised in the late 1790s? How many men were of drafting age?

Looking through colourized photos, I have seen the Zero in several different variations. Most commonly green, and solid white. I'm assuming that the colour standard for the Zero changed throughout the war, or based on role. Does anyone know what colour the Zero was painted in different years and why it shifted?

As an aside, if anyone knows the evolving colour palattes for other fixed wing aircraft in the Pacific I'd be interested in that as well.

I've wanted to ask a few questions here, but since I am not well-versed in history, I don't really know how to frame the questions. Basically, I am not sure what I want to ask. Nor am I sure if I can word the question in a way that will encourage useful answers.
