What if these people were living in Italy instead? That is, if they were Italians in Italy who supported the Axis but survived the war?

After African-Brazilian slaves were all freed, was there any sort of institutionalized racism present against them like in the US during reconstruction? Was there a sort of fight for civil rights and liberties? Or were they just immediately accepted into Brazilian society? Was there an area of Brazil that was more racist towards these freed African slaves like in the US?

I have been looking around the internet about armies and how they were formed in the medieval era. But my specific question has not been answered.

Schizophrenia has a hereditary component, for example. I was wondering if the deaths of a large number of mentally ill people in the 1930s led to relatively lower rates of hereditary mental illness in, say, the 1980s.

So, two things have become apparent to me recently:

1. When talking about pre-colonization Native American cultures, a lot of us Neo-Europeans tend to either romanticize or dismiss their history to ridiculous levels without knowing what we're talking about

2. I'm not any better myself, even though I think there's a lot of value in knowing the history of your land.

So I'm trying to fix that second thing, but I'm having trouble figuring out how to start. I want to get a sense of how things worked in most of tribal North America before the plagues, but there are so many individuated cultures and factors to cover that I feel like what I'm absorbing is just a bunch of tidbits which, while interesting, are fairly useless to my understanding of these cultures out of context.
