Books detailing the Meiji Restoration?

I've looked at the book list, but none of the ones listed see to be on the Restoration itself, rather than Japan immediately before and/or after. Otherwise it seems to be books detailing the whole of Japanese history that would cover it. So, are there any books with the main focus on the Meiji Restoration itself? Thank you, in advance.

Let the Trumpet Sound by Oates looks good, but there are some critiques that the style is too academic.

Famous Hungarian expatriates in the Union Army?

I'm reading "Journey to a Revolution" by Michael Korda, and he has a throwaway line about how army officers who emigrated after Kossuth's failed revolution ended up in high command in the Union Army during the civil war. Is this true? If so, what kind of impact did the Hungarians have in the war?

How long did it take for Rome to recoup their losses after the Punic Wars?

Because despite winning the Punic wars, it apsolutely gave the Republic a beating. Apparently 1/5 of the male population of Rome died in the war.

Is there any evidence that the first European explorers were aware that their diseases were decimating the native populations?

We can clearly look back now and see that European diseases like smallpox killed millions of Native Americans. Did the explorers realize that this was occurring, or did they think it was mostly coincidence?

Also an unrelated question, what is the 'correct' term for referring to the people who inhabited North America (including the Caribbean) prior to the arrival of Europeans? I've heard "natives", "native Americans" and "Indians" from professors. Which is considered correct?
